Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned International Tax Lawyer to advise on high-level, cross-border tax planning, structuring, compliance, and controversy matters. You will work with a multidisciplinary team of investment, legal, and operational experts to deliver sophisticated tax strategies for global clients β€” including families, entrepreneurs, and businesses β€” with assets and activities across multiple jurisdictions. This is a remote role with London time zone shifted support to ensure optimal collaboration with clients and colleagues across Europe, the Americas, and beyond. Key Responsibilities Advisory & Structuring β€’ Advise on international tax matters related to: β€’ Cross-border entity structuring (e.g., holding companies, trusts, foundations) β€’ Withholding tax, transfer pricing, and treaty application β€’ Tax-efficient repatriation strategies: dividends, royalties, interest, capital gains β€’ Tax residency, citizenship planning, and exit taxation β€’ * Design and implement compliant, tax-efficient structures for global clients Compliance & Risk Management β€’ Oversee global tax compliance across jurisdictions: β€’ FBAR, FATCA, CRS, Form 5471/8865, CbC reporting, etc. β€’ * Coordinate cross-border filings and ensure timely compliance β€’ Monitor and advise on changes in international tax laws and regulatory frameworks Tax Controversy & Defense β€’ Represent clients in cross-border tax disputes, audits, and assessments β€’ Liaise with tax authorities and local counsel to manage tax controversies β€’ Negotiate favorable outcomes and mitigate penalties Legal Advisory & Drafting β€’ Conduct legal due diligence for international transactions (M&A, capital movements, IP, financing) β€’ Draft and review intercompany agreements, royalty/service contracts, loan agreements, etc. β€’ Advise on international estate, gift, and wealth transfer planning Team & Network Development β€’ Mentor junior lawyers and associates β€’ Build and maintain a global network of trusted legal and tax advisors β€’ Collaborate with internal teams to align tax strategy with investment and estate planning β€’ JD / LLM in Tax or equivalent legal qualification β€’ Admitted to practice in at least one major jurisdiction (e.g., U.S., UK, or EU member state) β€’ 5–8+ years’ experience in international tax law (law firm, Big Four, or boutique advisory) β€’ Expertise in: β€’ U.S. international tax (Subpart F, GILTI, PFICs, IRC Β§Β§ 385/367/956) β€’ OECD BEPS framework and EU Anti-Tax Avoidance Directives β€’ Treaty interpretation and CFC regimes β€’ Track record in: β€’ Cross-border structuring and M&A β€’ Tax controversy and defense β€’ Intercompany pricing and contracts β€’ * Strong drafting and client communication skills β€’ Fluent in English (required); Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, or French strongly preferred β€’ Willingness to travel internationally as needed Key Competencies & Attributes β€’ Strategic: Sees tax in the context of broader legal, financial, and business goals β€’ Proactive: Stays ahead of regulatory changes and client needs β€’ Client-Focused: Prioritizes bespoke, high-impact solutions β€’ Collaborative: Works well across cultures and disciplines β€’ Ethical & Compliance-Oriented: Balances innovation with risk management β€’ Analytical & Creative: Brings a problem-solving mindset to complex tax issues Reporting & Team Structure β€’ Reports to: Head of Legal / Chief Legal Officer β€’ Collaborates with: Strategy, Investment, Private Client, and Operations teams β€’ Potential to lead a small team of associates or specialists as the firm grows Performance Metrics β€’ Successful implementation of tax-optimized, compliant structures β€’ High client satisfaction, retention, and referrals β€’ Minimization of audit risks and favorable controversy outcomes β€’ Expansion of the global legal/tax advisor network β€’ Contributions to thought leadership and global brand visibility Why Join the Company? β€’ Work with sophisticated global clients on high-impact, cross-border issues β€’ Collaborate with a world-class, entrepreneurial team β€’ Fully remote with international exposure β€’ Opportunity to grow into a leadership role β€’ Shape the future of global tax planning from anywhere Apply today to help sophisticated clients go further β€” without borders.
