WordPress Web Developer - Contract
Perseus Group is looking for a senior to intermediate WordPress web developer to own the ongoing maintenance, security, and optimization of our primary website. This is a long-term contract role focused on maintaining a mature WordPress codebase that is stable, secure, and evolving.
What you'll do
ā¢ Own ongoing maintenance of our WordPress website, including updates, fixes, and improvements
ā¢ Execute cosmetic and structural site changes while protecting the integrity of the existing codebase
ā¢ Regularly evaluate WordPress plugins, assess vulnerabilities, and apply patches or replacements as needed
ā¢ Support and extend a multilingual website, including adding new languages with proper SEO structure and localization best practices
ā¢ Ensure the site is optimized for organic search, including traditional SEO foundations and emerging AI-driven search considerations
ā¢ Proactively flag risks, performance issues, or technical debt and recommend practical solutions
What we're looking for
ā¢ Senior or strong intermediate WordPress developer with hands-on experience maintaining production websites
ā¢ Deep understanding of WordPress core, themes, plugins, and custom development
ā¢ Strong grasp of website security, vulnerability management, and performance optimization
ā¢ Experience working with multilingual WordPress setups and SEO implications across languages
ā¢ Solid SEO knowledge, including technical SEO, structured data, and AI-influenced search visibility
ā¢ Comfortable collaborating with hosting providers and internal stakeholders
ā¢ Clear communicator who works independently and flags issues early
Contract details
ā¢ Rate: $50-$75 CAD per hour
ā¢ Time commitment: ~15-20 hours per month, with flexibility for project-based spikes
ā¢ Location: Remote
ā¢ Eligibility: Based in North America
ā¢ Availability: Must be available during EST working hours

Salary Range:
The estimated base salary range for this role is USD$48.88 - USD$59.74 per hour. We include salary ranges in job postings only where required by applicable pay transparency laws, based on the jurisdictions in which the role may be performed. Final offer amounts may vary based on job-related factors, including work location, candidate experience and expertise, and other relevant considerations.
