WordPress Developer (SEO-Focused) – 20 hours a Week Long Term
We’re looking for a high-level WordPress Developer to help optimize, improve, and manage multiple existing websites built with SEO best practices already in place. This role is ideal for someone who deeply understands WordPress, plugins, site performance, and SEO-driven structure, not just design. All of our websites are already structured in an SEO-focused way, and your role will be to enhance, refine, and scale them—not rebuild from scratch. Responsibilities Improve and optimize existing WordPress websites with SEO-first architecture Push and format SEO-optimized blog content (structure, internal linking, schema when needed) Manage and configure WordPress plugins (SEO, caching, security, performance, backups) Improve site speed, Core Web Vitals, and overall technical SEO health Make ongoing site adjustments, fixes, and improvements Support website work for agency client websites as needed Ensure all updates align with SEO best practices and scalability Required Skills & Experience Advanced WordPress development experience (themes, plugins, customization) Strong understanding of SEO & technical SEO (on-page structure, indexing, internal linking) Experience with popular SEO plugins (Rank Math, Yoast, etc.) Strong understanding of performance optimization (speed, caching, image optimization) Comfortable working on multiple live sites Ability to work independently and make smart technical decisions Clear communication and ability to follow existing SEO systems Nice to Have Experience with multi-location or local SEO websites Experience working with marketing or SEO agencies Familiarity with schema, structured data, and advanced SEO setups What This Role Is NOT Not a beginner position Not just “posting blogs” Not a design-only role This is for someone who understands how WordPress and SEO work together and can make smart improvements without breaking existing systems.
