Women`s Fashion Editor

Remote Full-time
Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced women's fashion editor to work within the fashion team of Off Duty, a vibrant, sophisticated, witty and helpful lifestyle service section that appears in the Weekend print edition and on all digital platforms. You will work closely with the team to develop and edit womenswear stories that help readers understand trends and solve lifestyle problems in a smart, journalistic way. You will also identify and work with the team to call in and photograph relevant items of clothing and accessories or hi-res photography.

You will:
• Maintain constant familiarity with current fashion trends and the whole array of challenges when it comes to getting dressed.
• Edit stories to ensure that they fulfill Off Duty's service-oriented agenda; meet expectations for witty, stylish and sophisticated writing and airtight reporting; and meet the journalistic and ethical standards of The Wall Street Journal.
• Cover the womenswear market, going on industry appointments as needed to ensure that you are fully on top of the beat.
• Build a strong stable of freelance writers and usher stories through the proofing and fact-checking process.
• Serve as the liaison between editors, art, photo and digital departments, participating fully in the planning of digital presentations, optimizing stories for SEO and overall user experience, and tracking your stories' digital performance.
• Serve as the point person for all story planning and schedule organization matters.

You have:
• Strong editing skills; original packaging and conceptual instincts; a sharp sense of humor.
• At least 4-5 years experience in both print and digital lifestyle journalism.
• A thorough grasp of womenswear trends and a knack for making these trends accessible to a broad readership.
• Elite organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to juggle the demands of multiple projects at once.
• A sophisticated taste level and visual sense.
• Digital savvy, which extends to a keen understanding of how to engage digital readers, how to write clicky but authoritative and SEO-friendly headlines, plus experience crafting social-media strategies.

The position is based in New York, and will report to the men’s fashion editor.

To apply, please submit a resume, cover letter and examples of your work.

The Journal’s reporters, editors, developers, and audio and visual journalists create important and impactful stories, firmly rooted in fact and adhering to the highest ethical standards. We report without fear or bias, and we maintain a proper sense of perspective, detachment and objectivity in our reporting.
