Virtual Tax Preparer (Remote)
About the Role
Advanced Tax Experts LLC is seeking motivated Virtual Tax Preparers to join our contact-based team for the upcoming tax season. This is a remote, commission-based position where you will assist clients with preparing and filing individual income tax returns from the comfort of your home.
We are a contact-based company, meaning most of your work will be done through phone, text, email, and secure virtual platforms. You will be fully trained and supported by Headquarters—no prior tax office experience is required, but professionalism and willingness to learn are a must.
Key Responsibilities
• Communicate with clients by phone, text, email, and other approved virtual platforms.
• Collect and review client documents (W-2s, 1099s, identification, prior-year returns, etc.).
• Prepare accurate individual income tax returns using company-approved tax software.
• Explain tax results (refunds or balances due) to clients in clear, simple language.
• Ensure all required signatures and authorizations are obtained before e-filing.
• Follow all IRS, state, and company compliance rules and procedures.
• Protect client information and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Stay in regular contact with Headquarters and respond promptly to messages and updates.
• Participate in required training and ongoing updates throughout the tax season.
Training & Support
• Training Provided:
• Tax software and system training
• Company processes, procedures, and expectations
• Compliance and documentation requirements
• Best practices for client communication and customer service
• Ongoing Support:
• Access to Headquarters for questions and assistance
• Guidance with complex returns and situations
• Continuous communication and updates during the season

Pay Structure (Commission-Based)
Starting Split:
• 50/50 per funded client
• Preparer keeps 50% of eligible tax preparation fees
• Company keeps 50%
After 25 Funded Clients (Same Season):
• Split increases to 60/40
• Preparer keeps 60% of eligible tax preparation fees
• Company keeps 40%
Performance Bonus:
• Additional percentage increases may be awarded based on:
• Total number of funded clients
• Consistent performance and quality of work
• Professionalism and adherence to company standards
• All performance-based increases are at Headquarters’ discretion and may vary by season.
“Funded clients” means clients whose tax returns have been successfully filed and whose associated bank product/fee has been fully funded through the company’s process. Requirements
• Reliable internet and phone access.
• Ability to work remotely in a quiet, professional environment.
• Strong communication skills and comfortable speaking with clients.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
• Willingness to complete required training.
• Availability during peak tax season (including some evenings and weekends).
Preferred (But Not Required)
• Prior tax preparation, customer service, or sales experience.
• Bilingual skills (a plus, but not required).
Pay: $4,528.00 - $45,852.00 per month
