Virtual Elementary K to 8 Online Math Tutor /Remote/

BookNook is seeking passionate educators who are available to tutor kindergarten to grade eight (K–8) math students as a 100% virtual tutor. BookNook partners with school districts to support students in math and reading tutoring sessions that pair the same consistent tutor and student(s) at the same time across multiple appointments within the same week, from week to week, for a number of weeks. Tutors at BookNook enjoy sessions with provided lesson content, a virtual whiteboard, and an active virtual tutor community. To align with current tutoring requests, interested math tutors are asked to apply with BookNook if their availability often includes at least one hour each weekday within 4 and 7 pm ET. (with the potential to claim sessions outside of this time frame to tutor as well) Position Specifics • Subject: Math tutoring with provided lesson content • Position Type: 1099-eligible independent contractor • Tutoring Sessions: Follow the standard school year, September to May • Pay Rate: $20 per hour ($10 per 30-minute session) • Schedule: Tutors may claim and tutor up to 30 hours per week (total hours tutored can vary week to week). The number of sessions a tutor conducts is based on factors such as how a tutor's consistent availability aligns with the requested tutoring times and the number of active tutoring programs seeking a tutor. • Tutors are asked to attend at least 80% of each full tutoring series they claim to consistently support the students for the duration of the series. • Must be at least 18 years old and reside in, and tutor from, one of the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Washington, or Washington DC • Interest in tutoring K to 8th grade level math on weekdays, Monday to Friday. • Classroom experience and/or online teaching/tutoring experience in math or science is strongly preferred. • Commitment to teaching in alignment with the provided curriculum lesson design, structure, and strategies in mathematical best practices, specifically for intervention and assisting students struggling with mathematics. • Ability to build meaningful connections with students and create an encouraging and motivating learning environment. • A computer (laptop or desktop), webcam, clean and distraction-free environment, and reliable, high-speed internet connection speed of at least 20 mbps is a necessity to successfully conduct sessions in the BookNook virtual classroom. BookNook Tutor Application • Apply: Submit an application online and receive a reply within 5 business days. • Interview: Applicants may be invited to a 20-30 minute one-way recorded interview to submit virtual video responses sharing their experience, education, and tutor style. (check spam folders in case arrives there) • Qualify: In the days following the interview, the team will share a reply of the application status with a possible invitation to onboard as a tutor with BookNook. • Onboard: Aspects include setting up a payment account, successfully completing one fingerprint-based FBI background check, and reviewing online information about BookNook tutoring.
