Proofreader (Remote)

This a Full Remote job, the offer is available from: California (USA) Location: Los Angeles, California Job Type: Contract Compensation Range: $35 - 40 per hour We're looking for a detail-oriented Proofreader to join our production studio team! You'll be the final set of eyes on projects, ensuring everything we create for our clients is accurate, easy to read, and perfectly aligned with their unique brand voices and standards. This role requires an exceptional command of language, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment. While proofreading is the core of the job, you may also assist with light copyediting. Ultimately, you'll be responsible for giving the final sign-off, guaranteeing every deliverable meets the highest standards of quality before it goes to our clients. Responsibilities: • Proofread all studio deliverables to ensure: • Accuracy of spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax and context. • Accuracy of references, web and physical addresses, phone numbers and other data. • Legal disclaimers are correctly applied and formatted. • Consistent voice and tone across all copy, in alignment with the brand tone and voice standards. • Overall compliance with brand guidelines. • Correct usage and presentation of company and brand trademarks and logos. • Consistency and accuracy of layout components (spacing, capitalization, etc.) • Visuals are correctly captioned and/or referred to in the text. • Interact with copywriters and project managers to verify information and negotiate revisions when necessary. • Provide proofreading signoff on projects at final release. • Maintain internal style guide supplemental documentation. • Maintain strict adherence to deadlines. • Adheres to departmental standard operating procedures and workflows. • Communicate clearly and promptly with manager and studio staff. Qualifications: • Outstanding quality control practices executing proofreading tasks with accuracy, producing zero errors in work. • Demonstrated proficiency in digital proofing with Workfront Proof. • Proficiency in G-Suite (Google docs, Google slides), MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint.) • Proficiency with AP and/or Chicago Manual of Style and standard proofreading marks. • Demonstrated comfort with leveraging AI solutions in support of tasks. • Operates effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; highly organized and multi-tasks effectively. Skills: • Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in English or journalism. • Minimum of three years professional level proofreading experience required. • External or in-house agency experience required. • Strong written communication skills required. • Adept at embracing brand voice and tone then deploying consistently.
