About This Role
As a virtual sign language interpreter, you'll support students across multiple grade levels in their educational journey, ensuring complete access to curriculum content through professional interpretation services. You'll work with innovative virtual platforms designed specifically for educational interpretation, maintaining the highest standards of communication accessibility.
Time Commitment: 35-37.5 hours per week Student Caseload: 19-29 students across various virtual classrooms Grade Levels: Pre-K through 12th grade Platform: Advanced virtual interpretation technology with secure educational access
Essential Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive sign language interpretation during live virtual instruction
• Ensure student understanding and participation in online educational activities
• Modify interpretation approach based on student age and academic content complexity
• Work closely with virtual classroom teachers to maximize accessibility and learning outcomes
• Document interpretation sessions and communicate student needs to educational teams
• Participate in virtual IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning processes
• Maintain professional communication with students, families, and educational staff
Required Qualifications
• EIPA Certification: 3.5 minimum score required
• Educational Experience: 2+ years of school-based interpreting experience
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with virtual platforms and educational software
• Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing skill enhancement and best practices
• Flexibility: Ability to adapt to various educational settings and student populations
Preferred Qualifications
• EIPA score of 4.0 or higher
• Written EIPA certification
• RID/NIC certification including written examination
• Previous experience with remote interpretation services
• Background in educational support or special education
