Vice President, Case Management Operations – Strategic Leadership for Clinical Practice and Managed Services

About the Role The Vice President, Case Management Operations will play a critical role in leading the development, implementation, and long-term management of the operational component for Managed Service in the Clinical Practice. This position requires a strong and diverse skillset to drive success, including strategic planning, matrix team management, and leading strategic initiatives focused on continuous improvement of overall operations for managed services clients. The successful candidate will work closely with Clinical Pillar Leads and internal Optum business partners to develop an overall operational structure, identifying opportunities to improve performance and build upon existing solutions to create new ones. Primary Responsibilities Lead the Case Management Operational teams for dedicated Optum client accounts, focusing on onsite delivery and outcomes. Accountable for meeting or exceeding operational and contract Service Level Agreements. Establish and maintain service roadmaps to develop an integrated, innovative solution across all Care Management services. Provide input to consulting leadership for the direction of care management for Optum-client partnerships. Member of matrix leadership team accountable for performance, alongside Optum business unit leaders. Work closely with internal business stakeholders to establish integrated, best-in-class solution designs and translate strategies into specific initiatives that advance business goals. Manage service deployment and closely monitor performance, working with finance and pillar leadership to achieve financial viability and operational excellence. Partner with educational and compliance and auditing program leadership to ensure high standards of performance. Resolve business problems through risk mitigation to ensure seamless service execution and a high level of patient experience. Build a collaborative culture of partnership between operations and transformation. Drive clear, concise lines of communication with all internal and external partners to ensure efficient and effective implementation of operational initiatives. Develop and deliver clear and concise updates to senior leadership within Optum and client. Required Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 15+ years of healthcare industry experience, including experience with a health system or provider organization. 7+ years of program/project management experience. Advanced level knowledge of care coordination and hospital operations. History of driving major initiatives across complex organizations. Demonstrated self-starter with solid planning organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proven track record of building and influencing relationships with external and internal executives and stakeholders, as well as leading, influencing, and managing a large matrix workforce. Solid presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, including well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to travel up to 80% of the time. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Graduate degree in a related field (e.g., MBA, MHA, or equivalent). Experience improving inpatient care delivery efficiency in a management capacity. Proven application of change management methodologies in hospital inpatient operations. Solid understanding of hospital cost and financial performance drivers. Compensation, Perks, and Benefits We offer a competitive salary range for this role, which is $188,000 to $357,600 annually. Pay is based on several factors, including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and more. In addition to your salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401k matching program and paid time off.
