In the winter of 1777, Washington’s army retreated to a freezing Pennsylvania encampment, outmatched, undersupplied, injured, and ill. The men who endured that winter, who drilled in the snow and kept the embers burning when victory seemed impossible, emerged that spring as the force that would win the Revolution. The qualities they displayed — their fortitude and determination to act on their belief before anyone else thought it possible — carried this nation to its 250th birthday this summer. We’re looking for young people who want to take those qualities forward and lead America to its 500th.Grant amount of $10,000 (up to $2,500 of which is reserved to cover travel to opening and closing events).
