This shift requires research and design influence at the highest levels of the organization. Collaborating with our leaders, the main designer leads initiatives that span various teams. The director in charge of user experience design guides and mentors teams to adopt a more customer-focused, experimental, and holistic approach. Operating without direct reports, they concentrate on strategic and creative leadership for a particular sector. While not needing expertise in every aspect, their leadership ensures high-quality execution. This director employs a facilitative leadership style, working with senior leaders in product management and engineering. They contribute to product and business strategy, influencing prioritization and decision-making for multiple product teams. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to plan roadmaps, gather requirements, and organize work for multiple product lines over the coming year. • Foster the development of new product and business strategies aligning user needs and business objectives, guiding the creation of experience-driven visions for the sector. • Produce strategic design materials like strategy presentations, customer journeys, and cross-product "blueprints," promoting them among teams. • Break down strategies and visions for products within a line, guiding each product's role in the bigger vision. • Set design quality standards within the team by establishing a vision, giving creative direction, and conducting reviews. • Develop product development processes in collaboration with design, research, program management, and product leaders. • Enhance the organization's design capabilities through internal mentorship, training, and external presentations. Required Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills: • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant design field (e.g., Interaction Design, HCI, User Experience Design), certification from a reputable bootcamp or equivalent experience. • Experience leading the design of intricate products, services, or product suites (complexity involving multiple platforms/channels, diverse audiences, and managing intricate data). • Previous involvement in addressing vital, unclear, strategic challenges with executive teams. • Leadership experience within design teams (Designers, UX Researchers, Content Designers) and cross-functional collaboration with senior Product Managers and Engineering leads. • Proficiency in core design skills such as Interaction Design, Service Design, Taxonomy, Navigational Strategies, and Information Architecture; familiarity with User Research, UX Writing, and Prototyping. • Strong facilitation skills, employing various methods to conduct complex design workshops. • Demonstrated influence on business thinking and strategy through user-centered design work. Preferred Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills: • Profound expertise in journey and service mapping, storytelling, product design, and problem framing. • Advocate for Accessibility Guidelines and Inclusive Design practices. • Practical understanding of the core business model and value proposition. • Ability to link technical constraints and opportunities to design solutions; familiarity with React, and mobile UI standards.
