Â Â About Fieldcrest Ventures: Fieldcrest Ventures is a strategically focused investment firm specializing in pre-seed and seed-stage investments, with an allocation range of $500K to $1.5M per investment. Our dual approach combines long-term deep tech investments in areas such as AI, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and autonomous systems, with opportunistic investments in B2B SaaS and other ventures that promise near-term returns. We take a hands-on approach with our portfolio companies, embedding operational resources to help guide them through the critical early stages of growth.
Role Overview: We are looking for a Venture Analyst to join our team on a part-time, remote basis. This role is perfect for individuals from non-traditional backgrounds, including those with experience in technical or scientific research, who are eager to apply their skills in venture capital. You will play a key role in evaluating potential investments, conducting deep dives into emerging technologies, and developing insights that will shape our strategic investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
 Industry Research & Deep Dives: Conduct comprehensive research on emerging technologies, such as AI, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, and more. Develop detailed reports and presentation decks summarizing key findings, opportunities, and risks.
 Market Analysis: Assess industry trends, survey the competitive landscape, and identify early-stage startups in our target sectors. Focus on uncovering promising opportunities and aligning them with Fieldcrest's strategic mission.
 Investment Evaluation: Assist in evaluating potential investment opportunities, including conducting due diligence and financial analysis, and preparing investment briefs that outline the risk-reward profile.
 Collaborate Across Teams: Work with the Fieldcrest team to support active operational involvement in portfolio companies, including gathering insights that may assist with growth strategy development, governance, and market expansion.

 First Principles Research Background: Strong research capabilities rooted in first principles thinking, with experience in fields such as scientific research, technical analysis, or market research. Familiarity with academic or industrial research environments is highly valued.
 Probabilistic & Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct deep analysis, think probabilistically, and apply Bayesian reasoning. Comfort with expected value calculations and interpreting industry data to support investment recommendations.
 Intellectual Curiosity & Adaptability: A genuine interest in emerging technologies, with a curiosity to explore complex concepts like deep tech, AI, and the feasibility of automated manufacturing systems. Constantly questioning assumptions and seeking to understand the underlying mechanics of how things work.
