Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Cable Assembler to build various cables used in aircraft and ground control stations. This role involves determining and following methods and sequences of operations for tasks such as wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing on assembly units. You will be expected to follow and comprehend assembly drawings or written work instructions, crimp terminals/contacts onto wires using manual and automated tooling, label assemblies according to drawing specifications, and solder-tinning wire, splices, and connections. The position requires performing a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly using basic hand tools. Monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with control procedures is also part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Build various cables for aircraft and ground control stations.
- Determine and follow methods and sequence of operations for assembly tasks.
- Perform wiring, component installation, hand soldering, and cable harnessing on assembly units.
- Follow and comprehend assembly drawings or written work instructions.
- Crimp terminals/contacts onto wires using manual and automated tooling.
- Label assemblies in accordance with drawing specifications.
- Solder-tinning wire, splices, and connections.
- Perform repetitive and non-repetitive production assembly tasks.
- Use basic hand tools, cutters, wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering iron, and heat gun.
- Monitor and verify quality according to control procedures.
- Observe all laws and regulations applicable to business conducted on behalf of the company.
- Work safely according to established operating procedures.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three or more years of experience in cable assembly.
- Experience in cable assembly and/or cable harnessing.
- Proficiency in soldering, cable harnessing, and assembly, and wire crimping.
- Ability to read, follow, and understand blueprints, schematics, work instructions, and wire lists.
- Skill in crimping terminals/contacts onto wires using manual and automated tooling.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools, cutters, wire strippers, hand crimpers, scissors, soldering iron, and heat gun.
- Good visual perception and ability to distinguish between colors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certification IPC/WHMA-A620 is a plus.
- Understanding of 5S and Lean Principles is a plus.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Customer-focused approach.
- Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the position.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours as required.

Work Environment
The work environment includes a 9/80 work week with potential for overtime on Fridays and Saturdays. Dress code requires long pants, no loose clothing, clean and appropriate attire, and closed-toe shoes. Each Cable Assembler will have their own workbench with all necessary tools provided. The environment is organized, calm, and quiet, although headphones are not allowed and phones must remain in pockets.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Poway, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.96 - $27.26/hr.
