Cake Mortgage is actively seeking a skilled and driven mortgage underwriting professional to lead and support our underwriting team on-site, at our corporate office. The Underwriting Manager must have an in-depth knowledge of various loan programs including FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA and Non-QM loans. The Underwriting Manager will work closely with the Vice President of Underwriting to meet the demands of our expanding team. In addition, this candidate will be responsible for managing underwriting professionals, second level loan reviews, supporting underwriting functions, as well as developing and coaching employees.

· Manage a team of approximately 10-15 underwriters

· Ensures underwriters are verifying all documentation regarding income, asset, credit, appraisal, and title information

· Ensure the timely execution of tasks within the Team

· Pipeline management to analyze and optimize workflow, escalation and declination reviews

· Review loan submissions to detect and report any form of fraud, inconsistency, misrepresentations, etc.

· Responsible for counseling, coaching and the supervision for all underwriters

· Manage government and conventional underwriters to ensure mortgage loans are underwritten in compliance with Cake Mortgage underwriting, state and federal reporting guidelines

· Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new hires

· Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

· Min 3-5 years of management experience in mortgage underwriting

· Solid knowledge of mortgage underwriting and of basic automated underwriting systems

· Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with basic automated underwriting systems

· Knowledge of mortgage laws and regulations required, including Home Mortgage Disclosure Act

· Knowledge of state and federal agency mortgage loan guidelines and regulations

· Organized and detail oriented

· Ability to effectively manage a team

· Ability to effectively prioritize workload and meet deadlines

· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
