About the position
The Underwriting Summer Internship at Selective offers college students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry. Interns will support the underwriting department's growth and profitability goals by engaging in various underwriting functions, which are critical for assessing risks and determining insurance policy terms. This hybrid position allows interns to develop valuable analytical skills and insights into risk management while contributing to the company's success.
Responsibilities
• Engage in underwriting functions pertaining to the lifecycle of a policy, including new business quoting, issuing policies, renewal processing, and changes/endorsements.

• Assist in profitability initiatives by flagging accounts, adding renewal notes, and reviewing accounts to see if they meet improvement criteria.

• Support various tasks including fixing errors made by productivity bots, handling simple policy changes, and performing other administrative duties.
Requirements
• Must be a current college student (rising juniors and seniors preferred).

• Demonstrate an interest in learning about the insurance industry.

• Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred but not required.
