We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Mid-Level Transportation Design Engineer to join our team of experts in delivering cutting-edge transportation solutions. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing transportation infrastructure projects that enhance mobility, safety, and sustainability in urban and suburban environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and review comprehensive transportation design plans, including roadways, intersections, and traffic control systems
Utilize advanced CAD and Open Roads software to create detailed engineering drawings and models
Conduct capacity analyses and traffic simulations to evaluate proposed transportation improvements and optimize traffic flow patterns
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate transportation designs with other infrastructure projects and ensure seamless execution
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations and standards, and stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation to facilitate effective communication with clients and stakeholders
Contribute to the development of sustainable transportation solutions that address environmental concerns and promote eco-friendly practices
Participate in client meetings and public presentations to communicate project details, gather feedback, and build strong relationships with clients and communities
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
Proven experience in designing highway/roadway systems, with expertise in MicroStation, GEOPAK, and/or OpenRoads design software
Strong knowledge of local Illinois and Chicago Department of Transportation regulations and standards
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
