Traffic Monitoring Operator/Call Center

About the position Responsibilities • Utilize software and applications to control and monitor Intelligent Transportation Systems devices along freeways. • Monitor camera video and other information sources for traffic events that impact flow and safety. • Log potential and confirmed events affecting traffic using software applications. • Dispatch Highway Emergency Response Operators for roadside services related to traffic incidents. • Provide clear directions and descriptions of traffic events to citizens and agencies. • Monitor software-generated response plans and update them as necessary. • Monitor weather conditions and notify motorists and agencies about roadway conditions. • Coordinate with FDOT signal personnel for traffic signal management services. • Update information on FDOT's traveler information website, fl511.com. • Participate in technical and customer service training as required. • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Guidelines. • Perform routine updates of asset records and contact lists. Requirements • High School Diploma or GED • Ability to pass a state and federal criminal history/security background check • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen • Ability to remain stationary for long periods while monitoring systems • Ability to operate software platforms and web-based applications. Nice-to-haves • Previous experience in a call center, customer service, 911 Operator, or dispatching environment • Demonstrated ability to meet high customer service expectations • Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment • Experience with heavy telephone, radio, and computer usage • Effective oral and written communication skills • Ability to interpret geographic information on maps • Knowledge of Florida's interstate and state routes • Efficient and accurate data entry skills • Working knowledge of ATMS software and web-based applications.
