Location: Remote- Must reside in WY
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Temporary Mortgage Underwriter to join our team on a full-time basis. As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing and evaluating mortgage loan applications to ensure they meet company guidelines and regulatory requirements. This position requires extensive experience in manually underwriting loans.
Responsibilities:
Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to assess risk and ensure compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Verify accuracy and completeness of loan documentation and financial information.
Conduct thorough analysis of borrower credit, income, assets, and collateral.
Make sound underwriting decisions and provide clear explanations for loan approvals or denials.
Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and facilitate timely loan closings.
Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations and underwriting guidelines.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter with expertise in manually underwriting loans.
In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending practices, guidelines, and regulations.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work efficiently and independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification or designation in mortgage underwriting (e.g., NAMP Certified Mortgage Underwriter, CMU).
Experience working with Encompass or similar loan origination software.
Familiarity with FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional loan programs.
Most recent experience must have been as a front line Underwriter
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and Drug test.
Experience working remotely and managing time effectively.
Knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional loan programs.
Duration: This position is temporary, with an expected duration of 4 months with possibility of perm. The working hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday, with an unpaid break.
