About the position
The Temporary Adult Education Teacher (Pool) at Volunteer State Community College is responsible for providing instruction in the Adult Education Program, specifically focusing on Adult Basic Education and HiSET Preparation. This role requires compliance with the Tennessee Department of Labor's Adult Education Curriculum, ensuring that all teaching methods and materials align with state standards. The instructor will be expected to teach classes that may be scheduled during the day, evening, or on weekends, and may take place both on-campus and off-campus. The position offers flexibility in teaching formats, which may include in-person, remote, or hybrid models, catering to the diverse needs of adult learners. In this role, the teacher will plan, teach, and evaluate student work in assigned classes, ensuring that all educational activities meet the curriculum requirements. Additionally, the instructor will assist in administering and interpreting students' scores on state-approved examinations, which are crucial for proper student placement and instructional planning. Participation in required meetings and training events is also expected, along with the completion of other duties as assigned by the department. This position is part-time and grant-funded, with hours varying based on scheduling and student needs, typically requiring availability for two evenings per week.
Responsibilities

Requirements
Baccalaureate in Education or related field.

A Tennessee Teacher's License is required unless an exception is approved by the Department of Labor and Workforce Development Division of Adult Education.
