Technical Writer - Smart Home Product Documentation
We are seeking an experienced technical writer to create high-quality documentation for our smart home product line, including controllers, lamps, switches, sensors, and connected devices. The writer will translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly manuals for end users, installers, and support teams. Responsibilities • Develop complete documentation packages for each product: user manuals, installation guides, quick-start guides, technical/spec sheets, and troubleshooting content. • Work closely with engineering and management to gather accurate technical details and understand product functionality. • Create diagrams, wiring illustrations, and step-by-step visuals to support the written content. • Ensure documentation follows the compliance guidelines so it is easy to navigate, and meets safety and compliance requirements (e.g., CE, FCC, UL, KNX, and other smart home standards). Required Skills & Experience • Proven experience writing technical documentation for consumer electronics fx IoT devices, or smart home products etc • Ability to understand hardware, firmware, connectivity standards (Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Matter, Bluetooth, KNX), and installation workflows. • Strong writing, editing, and information-organization skills with exceptional attention to detail. • Proficiency with documentation and design tools • Ability to create clear visuals and work collaboratively across technical and nontechnical teams.
