Technical Writer

Coulson Aviation is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer for a 6-month contract to support their Technical Publications team. The role involves document formatting, editing, and management in an aviation environment, providing a great opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience.ResponsibilitiesReformat company documents into Microsoft Word templates, update styles, and add new styles as neededProvide guidance and training to employees on proper template usageAssist with SharePoint document management tasks, including publishing updates, maintaining metadata, and supporting system improvementsDevelop training materials for SharePoint and document management systems and provide training to employeesReview and edit documents for clarity, grammar, and consistencyWork with SMEs to clarify and organize technical contentAssist in drafting procedures, work instructions, and internal documentationSkillsCurrently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 1–2 years) from a Technical Communication, Professional Writing, English, Communications, or related programMinimum 1 year experience (academic, co-op, internship, or professional) working with Microsoft Word templates or similarVery strong proficiency in Microsoft Word (styles, numbering, section breaks, tables of contents, templates, etc.)Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and basic Adobe AcrobatFamiliarity with Microsoft SharePoint or willingness to learn quicklyStrong written communication, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple prioritiesComfortable learning independently, asking questions, and supporting a team environmentPositive attitude and eagerness to gain experience in aviation or regulated industriesPrevious co-op/internship experience in technical writingCompany OverviewCoulson Aviation is an aerial firefighting company that designs and manufactures components for aircraft.
