Key Responsibilities: Instructional Support: Provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher, including implementing specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities. Classroom Management: Support students to ensure a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning, and assist with maintaining a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere. Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues and assist teachers to meet student learning needs, including communicating regularly and effectively with stakeholders. Daily Living Skills: Assist students with daily living skills (dressing, toileting, feeding, etc.), as applicable, and promote independence and self-sufficiency. Record Keeping: Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, progress, and other relevant data. Professional Development: Attend staff meetings and trainings, and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge. Requirements: Essential Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education or related field preferred. Certification: Valid New York State Teaching Assistant certification (FLSS) required. Experience: Previous experience working with students with diverse needs, including autism, emotional, and developmental disabilities. Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other stakeholders. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, move, and support students with physical needs, as applicable. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Diverse Populations: Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including English language learners and students with disabilities. Behavioral Management: Training or experience in behavioral management techniques, including crisis intervention and de-escalation. Technology: Familiarity with educational technology, including learning management systems and digital tools.
