Teacher - Elementary
ELEMENTARY TEACHER
Reports to: Building Principal
General Summary: An elementary teacher provides students educational instruction that will foster and accelerate their intellectual, physical, social, and career development in accordance with district policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Ā Maintains clear and up-to-date written lesson plans. Able to show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
Ā Committed to Professional Learning Communities for school improvement.
Ā Conducts assigned activities from the administration, in conformity with the approved policies of the Board of Education and State and Federal Law.
Ā Promotes continued student learning by creating a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Ā Makes effective use of planning time. Observes designed working hours per the job assignment and uniqueness of each assignment.
Ā Employs a variety of instructional techniques, technology, and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
Ā Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable procedures and rules of behavior in the classroom and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
Ā Participates cooperatively with the principal in performance evaluations as stated in the district's policies and procedures.
Ā Supports and implements strategies that enhance student performance on local, state, and federal assessments.
Ā Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the superintendent, superintendent designee, or principal.
Ā Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.
Qualifications:
Ā Education - Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
Ā Certification or Licensure - Valid Indiana Teaching License.
Ā Experience - Evidence of success as a highly effective classroom teacher.
Ā Knowledge - Understanding of collaborative learning teams and effective instructional practices, standards, formative and summative assessments, and ways to analyze data.
Length of Contract: 185 days
