What’s Keeper? Keeper (keepertax.com) is a tech-enabled accounting and tax prep software for individuals and small businesses. We have around 40,000 subscribers paying us $200 annually, on average. Role & qualifications An increasing number of our subscribers are looking for something beyond our core software offering — like choosing the right business structure, aligning with their goals, and navigating tricky tax situations beyond the scope of software. To meet that demand, we’re looking for accounting professionals with a background in individual & small business taxes, and a knack for excellent customer care. Therefore, our tax pros are true all-stars, collaborating with our CX team to provide clear, consultative advice that makes a real difference for our clients. They work with our Product and Engineering teams to help surface new, highly relevant opportunities to maximize client value. Responsibilities • Conduct 1:1 video call consultations and confidently engage with users across a range of tax complexities • Offer tax advice on complex tax returns—including S-Corp and Partnership filings—as well as ad-hoc financial statements, foreign tax filings, and business formation both to our clients and internally to our CX team • Juggle different responsibilities, track and manage tasks, and create proactive cadences for users that maximize product value and utilization • Think operationally: as our product evolves, you’ll help shape and improve our systems and tools for serving advanced tax needs Qualifications This role is ideal if you’re looking to build your own client portfolio—without the grind of gig platforms or the rigid track of a Big Four firm. You’ll be joining a supportive network of accountants already thriving in our ecosystem. Specific requirements: • EA and/or CPA certification (required) • Bachelor’s degree (required) • Master’s degree (preferred) • Experience with individual taxes, especially for individuals that have 1099 income or other complex needs • Experience with business tax filings and business formations - ideally S-Corps and Partnerships Compensation $80/hr Interview structure • Interview with Rob (15 min) Tell us about the volume and types of returns you’ve prepared, the tax software you’re familiar with, and your experience working directly with clients. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask Rob questions about Keeper and the role! • 2-part paid assessment ($150 flat fee compensation). Part 1 is a Mock tax return preparation. You’ll be sent a mock intake form and then asked to prepare a mock tax return. Part 2 is a Mock client call. You'll spend 20 min chatting with someone at Keeper who will be pretending to be a client seeking a call with a tax pro about their tax situation. • Another call with Rob & David (30 min) This is a conversation where you’ll have the chance to ask any questions you may have about Keeper and how this role could evolve over the next six months. • Offer! The role will start off as a contracting position paid at $80 per hour. You’ll sign an NDA, complete a background check, and have a chance to meet other team members—like our CX team—who you’ll collaborate with to help build and improve our processes.
