Contract Opportunity: Talent Management Strategist – Leadership & Competency Development Focus

We’re seeking a forward-thinking, results-driven contract professional to partner with our Member's Talent and Human Resources (THR) team in shaping a high-impact talent strategy. This role is ideal for someone passionate about cultivating leadership potential, accelerating talent development, and building robust competency frameworks that drive organizational excellence.

You’ll lead the design and execution of strategic initiatives across the employee life cycle—from onboarding to offboarding—with a sharp focus on developing leaders, enhancing capabilities, and aligning talent practices with THR’s long-term vision. This role is expected to last around 9 months and will be hybrid out of Troy, MI.

Core Responsibilities

1. Strategic Talent & Leadership Development
• Audit and enhance existing talent management frameworks with a lens on leadership growth and capability building
• Identify gaps and opportunities in current strategy, especially around succession planning, leadership pipelines, and high-potential development
• Co-create tools such as leadership competency models, talent profiles, development pathways, and multi-rater feedback mechanisms

2. Employee Life Cycle Optimization
• Reimagine key touchpoints across the employee journey—hiring, onboarding, development, performance, and exit—with scalable, leadership-focused solutions
• Build practical resources: toolkits, guides, templates, and training materials that support leadership and competency development
• Develop implementation roadmaps and task plans to ensure seamless rollout

3. Execution & Enablement
• Support deployment of new and enhanced talent initiatives across the organization
• Facilitate workshops, info sessions, and training events to build awareness and adoption
• Integrate feedback loops to refine and evolve deliverables based on employee and stakeholder input

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
• Maintain strong communication with THR leadership, including the CHRO
• Deliver clear, consistent updates on progress, milestones, and impact
• Ensure alignment and transparency throughout the project lifecycle

Ideal Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in HR, Organizational Development, or related field
• 5–7 years of experience in talent management, with a strong emphasis on leadership and competency development
• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing strategic HR programs
• Exceptional project management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to navigate complex, cross-functional environments with confidence
• Deep understanding of the employee life cycle and its connection to leadership growth
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, non profit, mission-driven culture
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and collaborative tools

This is more than a contract—it's a chance to shape the future of leadership and talent at the organization. If you're ready to make a lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you.
