Surrogate's Court Paralegal (8+ yrs | REMOTE)
We are seeking an experienced Surrogate’s Court Paralegal (at least 8 years of experience) to join the growing team of a NY boutique law firm that specializes in Wills and Trust & Estates on a REMOTE basis.
You will leverage your expertise in estate and probate matters to:
Draft Surrogate’s Court Applications: Including probate, administration, and petitions for the judicial settlement of fiduciary accountings (with guidance as needed).
Obtain Jurisdiction: Serve process, submit proofs of service, and ensure proper jurisdiction is achieved.
Client Interaction: Conduct new client intakes and expertly communicate with clients, court personnel, clerks, and third parties.
Calendar Management: Manage all court dates, deadlines, and schedules efficiently.
Efiling: Submit court documents electronically while navigating related technologies.
Technical Proficiency: Utilize tools such as MS Office Suite, LEAP, Lawmatics, Lexis AI+, and automated templates.
• Bachelor's Degree
• Proven experience in NY estate administration processes, including 8+ years handling surrogate court matters.
• Familiarity with drafting petitions and preparing supporting legal documents.
• Knowledge of uncontested surrogate court proceedings and associated requirements.
• Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Effective communication skills for client interaction and coordination with court officials.
• Detail-oriented approach to administrative tasks and legal documentation.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent collaboration with the legal team.
