At Allstate, great things happen when our people work together to protect families and their belongings from life’s uncertainties. And for more than 90 years, our innovative drive has kept us a step ahead of our customers’ evolving needs. From advocating for seat belts, air bags and graduated driving laws, to being an industry leader in pricing sophistication, telematics, and, more recently, device and identity protection. Job Description Allstate Insurance Company, a Fortune 100 organization, is home to one of the nation’s largest and most sophisticated in-house legal departments. We are currently seeking Summer Law Clerk candidates to join our Law & Regulation Department. As one of the most comprehensive in-house legal operations in the country, Allstate’s Law & Regulation Department offers a dynamic environment focused on professional development, innovation, and work that has meaningful, enterprise-wide impact. The Summer Clerkship offers exceptional opportunity for first-year law students to gain hands-on experience while contributing to high quality legal work that supports Allstate’s mission and business. Allstate’s summer law clerk program is a paid, ten-week experience that is primarily remote, with the potential for occasional in-person attendance. While the role is structured as remote, estimated travel to Allstate’s Chicago offices and to Allstate’s Washington, D.C. Federal Affairs Office will be required. The clerkship offers summer law clerks the opportunity to work with multiple divisions within the department, including Global Litigation, Employment Law, Business Law, Compliance, Corporate Law, and Government and Industry Relations. Allstate’s Law & Regulation Department operates under a clear structure giving law clerks visibility into how legal work directly supports business growth and risk mitigation. A summer law clerk’s responsibilities include legal research, preparation of legal memoranda, and oral presentations under the supervision of a licensed Allstate attorney. Law clerks will be paired with a dedicated attorney-mentor and will participate in structured programming that highlights how the department executes its legal and strategic goals. They may also observe internal strategy sessions, and business-unit briefings. The salary is competitive, and the position begins in early June 2026. Ideal candidates should have outstanding research and writing skills, along with effective oral communication skills. Allstate is looking for students to join us after successfully completing their first year of law school (Rising 2Ls) who demonstrate change agility and embrace cross-functional collaboration and innovation. Law Clerks will gain exposure to initiatives aligned with Law & Regulation’s enterprise-wide goals, including innovation in legal operations, AI and data analytics integration, legal system abuse mitigation efforts, climate-related strategies, and cross-functional business partnerships. Students interested in corporate practice, complex litigation, regulatory policy, and legal innovation are strongly encouraged to apply. Law school transcripts are required. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is expected, along with demonstrated excellence in research, writing, and analytical skills.
