Job Summary:

Join our team at California State University, Sacramento, as a Student Athlete Mentor I. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of student-athletes, supporting their academic success and personal growth. As a Student Athlete Mentor I, you will provide guidance, academic support, and mentorship to student-athletes, helping them navigate their academic journey and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

* Meet with assigned student-athletes at least once a week to review their academic progress, discuss coursework, syllabi, study skills, time management, class attendance, assignments, and tests
* Provide tutoring and academic support as needed
* Report student-athletes' academic progress, meeting attendance, and other pertinent information to the full-time SARC staff
* Collaborate with students, staff, and faculty to create a supportive learning environment

Requirements:

* Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field
* Ability to provide effective student services, interact professionally with diverse populations, and maintain composure in challenging situations
* Effective communication skills in-person, on the phone, and via online systems
* Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge or familiarity in working with, coaching, or mentoring athletes
* Experience in a collegiate athletics environment or NCAA compliance
