What you'll do...

Staff Product Designer, Innovation - Data Ventures

We're building Walmart Data Ventures from the ground up, and high-quality Product Design is critical to our foundation. Our disruptive data products serve millions of customers, suppliers, and associates across our unique user ecosystem. Join our mission of crafting world class data experiences with, and for, the biggest brands in the world.

As a Staff Product Designer, Innovation, you'll lead design for our new product innovation group. This team is charged with exploring, prototyping, testing, and validating new product ideas that inform potential business directions.

You'll work across functions and stakeholder groups, contributing your deep knowledge of the human-centered design process to deliver new products at the appropriate speed and level of fidelity to inform strategic business decisions. If you're motivated by solving complex problems alongside some of brightest folks in the industry, then this is the opportunity for you.

About Data Ventures:

Data Ventures exists to unlock the full value of Walmart's data by delivering enterprise data products that empower our biggest merchants and suppliers to make better, faster decisions. We're seeking entrepreneurial individuals to help define our products from concept to deployment.

What you'll do:
• Define and drive innovation incubator design vision, strategy, and approach, directly impacting our business strategy and direction
• Design at the appropriate fidelity - use frameworks, sketches, diagrams, user flows, information architecture, wireframes, and prototypes to communicate and pressure test ideas
• Use your expertise of design thinking to facilitate cross-functional conversations and workshops, gather and give shape to ideas from our partner teams, and rapidly build prototypes for testing and iteration
• Collaborate closely with our cross-functional partners in Business Strategy, Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, and beyond, to ensure we're getting the best out of our teams, maintaining alignment, and translating Walmart's complex data ecosystem into high-value products
• Act as a leader within our growing Product Design organization, sharing knowledge, mentoring on best practices, shaping our culture, and helping the team stay up to date on how today's high-performing design teams operate

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Architecture, User Experience, Visual Communications, or other related field, with 7-9 years of professional experience, or Master's Degree in related field with 5-7 years of professional experience, or 10+ years of professional experience
• A portfolio showcasing shipped design work, preferably in high-complexity industries like finance, healthcare, big data, or other enterprise areas
• Deep understanding of design thinking methodologies and user- / human-centered product design and development
• Track record for turning ambiguity and complexity into effective design solutions
• Ability to leverage the "superpowers" of design (visualization, rapid prototyping, pressure testing ideas early and often) to influence product + business direction
• You thrive in constant zero-to-one product exploration - you understand that killing ideas in favor of uncovering the best ideas is critical to new business success
