• Join SandboxAQ, a rapidly expanding company at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge AI solutions that tackle some of the world's most significant challenges. We are a global, tech-focused team comprised of experts spanning AI, chemistry, cybersecurity, physics, mathematics, medicine, engineering, and numerous other specialized fields. Emerging as an independent, growth capital-backed entity from Alphabet Inc. in 2022, SandboxAQ is powered by leading investors and supported by a distinguished braintrust of industry leaders. Our culture is meticulously crafted to foster creativity, encourage collaboration, and drive impactful outcomes. By making substantial investments in our people, we are cultivating a dynamic, worldwide workforce poised to confront and resolve epic global challenges. This is your opportunity to advance your career while pursuing an inspiring mission, surrounded by like-minded individuals who deeply value entrepreneurial spirit, a sense of ownership, and the creation of transformative impact.

• As a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Cryptography R&D, you will be an integral member of a diverse and expert team, playing a pivotal role in developing novel features and addressing a broad spectrum of complex challenges across our entire technology stack. Your responsibilities will span a variety of intricate technical domains, including but not limited to, systems-level programming, the analysis of large-scale data, and the automation of security processes. We are actively seeking a highly versatile engineer who possesses profound cryptographic expertise coupled with a proven ability to architect and implement solutions for complex, systems-level problems, demonstrating proficiency across multiple programming languages.

• Your core responsibilities will involve close collaboration with Research & Development (R&D) and Product stakeholders. This partnership will be crucial for prototyping new capabilities, exploring innovative future features, and translating conceptual ideas into tangible technological advancements. You will apply your robust systems engineering skills to design, develop, and build proof-of-concept solutions specifically tailored to address complex security challenges. A significant part of your role will be dedicated to designing and implementing sophisticated systems engineered for the effective management and insightful analysis of large-scale, security-critical data, ensuring data integrity and actionable intelligence.

• You will be instrumental in writing high-quality, reusable, and maintainable code for a variety of R&D projects. This will require adaptability and expertise across a range of programming languages, with a particular emphasis on systems languages such as Rust, Go, or Python, ensuring the robustness and efficiency of our foundational technologies. Furthermore, you will conduct in-depth technical investigations, meticulously analyzing findings and presenting clear, concise reports that will directly influence and help shape the company's strategic direction and technological roadmap. A key aspect of this role is the ownership of greenfield projects, guiding them from the initial conceptualization and design phases all the way through to the delivery of a fully functional and validated prototype, demonstrating end-to-end project leadership.

• This role demands a deep understanding of cryptographic principles and their practical application in real-world security scenarios. You will be expected to leverage your academic foundations in cryptography and computer science to solve tangible engineering challenges, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation. Strong analytical thinking is paramount, enabling you to dissect complex problems and devise elegant solutions. Equally important are your communication skills, which will be essential for thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic environment, ensuring effective knowledge sharing and team synergy.

• We are looking for an individual who is not only technically proficient but also possesses a genuine passion for security and cryptography. This passion can be demonstrated through contributions to open-source projects, active participation in security communities, or a consistent drive to deepen one's expertise in areas like Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Experience with advanced techniques such as static or dynamic program analysis, or the development of software sensors and tracers, would be highly advantageous, providing additional depth to your technical profile. Familiarity with our broader technology stack, including but not limited to Typescript, React, GraphQL, Flask, PostgreSQL, Bazel, Docker, GCP, and AWS, will enable a smoother integration into our existing development workflows and infrastructure.
