As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. The Cloud TPU team builds and supports the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Cloud TPU service and related Machine Learning (ML) models/frameworks. It provides ML infrastructure customers (both external and internal to Google) with large-scale, cloud-based access to Google's first-party ML supercomputers (TPUs and TPU Pods) to run training and inference workloads using TensorFlow and JAX. The machine learning team is responsible for the ML framework/tools/processes, as well as engagements with customers who are taking advantage of Google's TPUs to achieve massive scale and speed in their ML workloads. The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google's products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company. Responsibilities Help implement the performance metrics for the ML Engagements team and lead the team to improve on these metrics. Communicate results and turn them into actionable improvements within our team or with partner teams. Enable cutting edge ML models at massive scale for computer vision (e.g., image recognition, object detection, image generation), machine translation, language modeling, rankings and recommendations, speech recognition, etc. Help tune ML models for performance on TPUs and GPUs and collaborate with other teams (e.g., hardware, compiler, ML researchers) to improve the flow and results. Collaborate closely with the Google Brain team and other leading research organizations in the industry to continuously bring cutting edge capabilities to our customers.
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
