About the Role
As a Sr. Mechanical Designer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and deploying production systems and automated machinery for touch, sensing, and display modules for large-scale manufacturing. Your work will have a significant impact on the entire array of Apple products and new innovations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the mechanical design of autonomous functional systems, from concept to production
Collaborate with multi-functional teams for hardware development and organization
Design systems for automation integration and high-volume production environments
Develop system requirements, perform detailed analysis, and testing
Apply engineering expertise in optics, precision component design, and motion control
Utilize analytical methods and testing to troubleshoot issues and implement robust solutions
Report best practices, SOPs, and maintain a library of approved designs
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
Experience:
Mechanical system design experience (machinery, installation, mechatronics, hardware packaging, optics)
3D CAD experience (NX, SolidWorks, Master/E)
Proficient in drafting and GD&T practices
Experience with analysis: FEA, Resilience stackup, Error budget, RCA
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (precision machining, heat treatments, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
Experience in hardware development, ideally in high-volume production environments
Experience in opto-mechanical design (camera/optical mounts, kinematic mounts, consistent system design)
Experience in creating autonomous gear for consumer gadgets products/modules
Experience designing mechanical systems for PCB, FPC, connectors, etc.
Experience in designing high-precision components and motion control systems
Experience in creating for low-particle environments/cleanrooms
Knowledge of machine/PC vision systems
Knowledge of optical system integration, alignment, and stability testing
Knowledge of robotics, automation, and wafer/DUT handling systems
Programming knowledge
