In the role of Specialist, Title Research, you will conduct comprehensive property title searches to support real estate transactions, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and provincial regulations.ResponsibilitiesCommunicate with internal/external customers via multiple mediums with accuracy and professionalismPerform accurate and efficient title searches across all provincial land registry systems, ensuring compliance with each jurisdictionâs unique legislative and regulatory requirementsAnalyze and interpret land title documents, legal descriptions, and encumbrances to identify ownership interests, active charges, and potential title issuesUtilize electronic platforms such as Teraview (ON), myLTSA (BC), SPIN2 (AB), ISC (SK), and Property Online (NS, NB, PEI) to retrieve, assess, and report property recordsIdentify and escalate discrepancies in title chains, outstanding interests, or registration inconsistencies to support timely resolutions and protect client interestsCollaborate with internal stakeholders, legal professionals, and land registry offices to clarify complex title issues and ensure high service quality across all lines of businessDeliver clear, concise search summaries and exception notes to enable informed decision-making by mortgage discharge, underwriting, and legal teamsSkillsMinimum 1 year of related experienceHigh School diploma or equivalent experienceMinimum 6 months experience in mortgage administrationLand title system training, either via internal onboarding or recognized real estate law programsProfessional certification or coursework in: Real Property Law, Title Searching Procedures, Electronic Registration SystemsExperience with provincial systems, such as: Teraview (Ontario), myLTSA (British Columbia), SPIN2 (Alberta), ISC (Saskatchewan), POL (Nova Scotia), Property Online (PEI, NB, NS)BenefitsComprehensive benefits that include Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) and Wellness EssentialsGroup retirement savings plan with company matchPaid holidays and generous paid time offHybrid work arrangementsPaid volunteer opportunities and charitable donation matchingEmployee recognition programs that include referral incentivesPotential for performance-based incentivesThe opportunity to participate in our stock purchase planAnd more!Company OverviewFirst American provides financial services through its Title Insurance and Services segment and its Specialty Insurance segment.
