Key Responsibilities As a Special Education Teacher – Remote | WFH, your primary responsibilities will include: Collaborating with students, parents, and fellow staff members to design effective educational programs that cater to the diverse needs of our learners. Developing and implementing instructional strategies, activities, and materials that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Working closely with general education teachers to adapt curricula based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure inclusive classroom practices. Facilitating IEP meetings and implementing recommended goals and objectives. Assessing student progress and adjusting instructional plans accordingly, utilizing technology to enhance learning outcomes. Providing personal and medical care as necessary, adhering to student IEPs. Employing positive behavior supports and crisis intervention strategies as outlined in individual student plans. Collaborating with Response to Intervention (RtI) teams to provide targeted interventions and support to students. Fostering a nurturing classroom environment conducive to learning and holistic development. Managing and maintaining accurate records of student progress, attendance, and IEP implementation. Participating in ongoing professional development activities to enhance job-related skills and stay current with best practices in special education. Virtual Instruction Assignments In addition to the above responsibilities, you will also be expected to: Seamlessly integrate approved online learning platforms into virtual instruction. Plan, implement, and evaluate virtual lessons during standard and extended work hours. Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and staff members. Translate district best practices into the virtual instructional setting. Attend professional development sessions focused on virtual instruction. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of student data and attendance. Create a professional virtual teaching environment conducive to learning. Provide additional support and tutoring opportunities for struggling students. Support extracurricular activities as needed, adhering to district guidelines. Education, Certification, and Experience To be considered for this role, you must possess: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. A valid Texas teaching certificate for special education. A valid ESL certification. Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a special education setting. Special Knowledge and Skills We are looking for candidates with: A deep understanding of the special needs of students. Familiarity with the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process and IEP goal setting. Proficiency in crisis prevention and behavior intervention strategies. Training in positive behavior supports. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff members. Supervisory Responsibilities May supervise paraprofessionals if assigned. Mental Demands, Physical Demands, and Environmental Factors This role requires: The ability to maintain emotional control under stress. The ability to perform physical tasks as required, including assisting students with disabilities.
