Somali Interpreter (remote)
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is an independent contractor position offering a flexible work schedule and ongoing opportunities.
The interpreter will provide professional interpreting services primarily in healthcare settings. Assignments are conducted entirely through phone or Zoom and are available on a regular basis, depending on the demand for specific languages and the interpreters qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Fluency in both Somali and EnglishDemonstrated experience providing accurate, complete, and clear interpretation in medical, legal, and community settings, with the highest level of fidelity to the original communicationStrong ability to interpret orally between Somali and English in both directionsProven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgroundsSkilled in meeting the communication needs of medical professionals, patients, government agencies, community organizations, and internal stakeholdersCombination of formal interpreter training and/or relevant professional experienceWillingness to obtain required medical clearances, including vaccination/immunization records and background checks, as necessaryMust have a reliable phone, a laptop or desktop computer, and a stable high-speed internet connectionAccess to a quiet, private workspace to support remote assignments
