About Tesla's Autonomy Telemetry Team Tesla's Autonomy Telemetry team plays a crucial role in collecting and processing data that drives the development of Autopilot and Tesla Bot. Our team relies heavily on imitation learning, which involves collecting thousands of human demonstrations to create massive datasets for training our neural networks. To facilitate this data collection efficiently, we are developing a sophisticated VR rig that allows Bot Operators to experience the world from the robot's perspective and perform intricate tasks remotely. Key Responsibilities Influence Architectural Decisions: Focus on security, scalability, reliability, and high performance in the design and implementation of our VR data collection system. Technology Selection: Choose technologies that enable us to scale with our growing fleet of robots while efficiently utilizing cloud infrastructure and managing costs. Hardware Integration: Integrate new sensors and hardware components to build custom data collection rigs that meet our needs. Monitoring and Metrics: Set up and maintain monitoring, metrics, and reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting, from car to cloud.
