About Octopus and the Analytics Platform teamOver the past ten years, Octopus Energy Group has expanded from a UK startup to become the UK's largest energy provider and a global leader, serving over 10 million customers across eight countries.The Analytics Platform team is brand new to the company and is tasked with consolidating analytics tooling and building a strategy for consistent data modelling across all our global businesses. We are building a platform that each country can plug their respective data into and get consistent data to be used to optimise customer journeys for each region or metrics at the global level by the group management team. Our mission is to build a platform for analytics where: Producers can build efficient pipelines from source data to insight with easeProducers can scale out Modelling & BI to any number of Octopus Energy businesses around the worldProducers can provide insight via notebooks for detailed storytelling and dashboards for live updates on a domainConsumers can find what they’re looking for with easeConsumers have trust in the metrics and dashboards they’re presented withConsumers can self-serve if neededConsumers can retrieve data via automation What you’ll do Our data analysts, business analysts, data scientists etc. use a variety of tools to transform source data into insight. Your role is to improve their interaction with these tools, whether they are internally or externally developed. Some examples of this type of work:Improving our in-house dbt CLI wrapper to make it more user friendly and optimise runtimesMonitor tooling interaction with tools like Sentry or Datadog to identify areas for improvementDeveloping our internal BI tooling powered by Streamlit to improve user experience and improve accessibility for less technical usersIntegrate 3rd party tooling via APIs / SDKs and Terraform. Examples of these tools are listed in the ‘nice to have’ experience. What you'll have We love to hear from applicants who are willing to take the initiative and find their niche at Octopus Energy. Our expectation is that you spend ideally 3 days a week in the office so that you can build relationships and collaborate with colleagues across the business. If you would like to apply from outside the UK we can be flexible on alternate setups provided you are getting in-person time with the team and colleagues.
