The Opportunity As a Software Development Manager - Fulfillment Technology, you will lead a team of software engineers in the development, testing, and deployment of our platform. You will help mature and extend our existing systems while introducing newly architected systems that will enable Chewy to scale into the future. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership : Manage and lead a team of software engineers in the development, testing, and deployment of our platform. Facilitate agile processes, and remove impediments to ensure smooth project execution. Technical Guidance : Provide guidance and support for your team's products and drive incident management towards resolution. Ensure that your team has the necessary resources and expertise to deliver high-quality software. Recruitment and Mentorship : Partner with our recruiting team to build and mentor the growth of your team. Identify and develop the skills and competencies needed to drive success in your team. Technical Decision-Making : Drive technical decisions and work with your partner TPM to plan, track, and deliver software projects. Ensure that technical decisions align with business objectives and customer needs. Collaboration and Communication : Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and cross-functional teams. Communicate technical plans, progress, and results to stakeholders. Architecture and Design : Review architecture, design, and implementations, and provide feedback to individual contributors. Ensure that solutions are scalable, reliable, and meet customer needs. Prioritization and Planning : Identify and manage priorities within the context of overall corporate objectives. Ensure that your team is focused on delivering high-priority projects and features. Best Practices : Work with others in Engineering Management to drive best practices in software development, testing, and production deployment. Requirements and Qualifications Education : Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or a similar math or engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience. Experience : 7+ years of proven Software Engineering experience delivering commercial and mission-critical software. 2+ years of experience leading teams of 5+ Engineers. Technical Skills : Experience with designing, building, and deploying scalable, highly available micro-services. Proficiency in Java and related frameworks like Spring Boot for RESTful APIs. Experience with developing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Docker containers and Jenkins. Cloud Technologies : Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS or similar cloud providers. Agile Methodologies : Proven delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology. Communication : Excellent communication skills (written and oral). Preferred Qualifications E-commerce Experience : Experience in e-commerce software systems. React and Spring Boot : Experience working with React and Spring Boot. Linux and Kubernetes : Experience working with Linux and Kubernetes. Database Experience : Experience with RDBS and noSQL databases such as SQL Server and DynamoDB. Additional Languages : Additional languages beyond Java such as Python or JavaScript.
