Server Administrator 4

NOTE: This position is available for remote work within the contiguous United States with travel as required for business needs. Preference is to work from our Houston, TX office location (CityCentre). POSITION SUMMARY: The Server Administrator 4 proposes, plans, and implements complex projects and initiatives for IT systems operations; serves as a senior technical leader in multiple areas; works with the team to lead the delivery of stable, reliable, and flexible systems services to support all business processes; and keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies in order to develop strategic initiatives for new or enhanced services as appropriate. As needed, the position serves as the technical escalation lead for complex issues.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the maintenance and administration of multiple core internal server infrastructure components including Active Directory, PKI, VMware vSphere, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint, System Center Operations Manager, System Center Configuration Manager, HPC systems, file servers, print servers, and misc. application servers.Lead the maintenance and administration of core internal storage, backup, and recovery systems.Provide primary expert-level support for at least two major technology systems and secondary support of multiple others.Act as a primary point of contact for business analysts with line of business applications.Provide team leadership and mentoring for other administrators. Lead complex IT projects that require the frequent use of creativity and innovation. Work them to completion with minimal oversight. Schedule and coordinate server and storage hardware maintenance windows with support personnel. Coordinate application deployment with support personnel and project managers. Remote support and on-call hours may be required on a rotational basis. Research and test new and emerging systems and server technologies; make recommendations to the VP - IT. Performs other duties as assigned. Leads consensus by involving all stakeholders, facilitating their understanding of differences, agreeing on requirements and constraints, and developing the best solution.Safety Culture: Adheres to the NuScale Safety culture and is expected to model safe behavior and influence peers to meet high standards.Quality Assurance: Commits to theunderstanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Computer Science or other technical degree from a four year accredited college/university is required. Alternatively, an additional 4 years (16 years total) of directly related full-time work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.Experience: A minimum of 12 years of full-time work experience in complex IT environments is required. This includes direct experience architecting, deploying, and supporting enterprise systems and infrastructure across technology towers (storage, networking, operating systems, and applications). A systems related certification (MCSE, VCAP, RHCE or similar) is required.The position requires knowledge in the following areas as it relates to designing, implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting operational incidents:Expert understanding of Microsoft, VMware, and/or Linux operating systems/networking in large high performance high availability environmentsStrong understanding of operational database administration, HA/DR, and ETL conceptsExperience managing enterprise-class ISA server hardware (HPE, Dell, or IBM)Strong networking skills with an understanding of LAN, WAN, firewall, & VPN conceptsExperience with enterprise-grade central backup software, VTL, and/or tape librariesStrong understanding of iSCSI and Fibre Channel SAN technology in a multi-path environmentDemonstrated excellent technical documentation abilityDemonstrated professionalism and skills to present and communicate effectively with internal departments and senior managementFamiliarity with encryption technologies and implementationsScripting or programming (e.g.: Powershell, Bash, CMD, VBScript, Python, etc.)Preferred skills and background in the following areas:Administration of hybrid on-prem/cloud IT infrastructure, including authentication systemsDevelopmental database administration and business analytics with Microsoft SQL ServerFamiliarity with cloud technologies and administrationExperience working in a highly regulated industryIn depth understanding of MS PKI infrastructureExperience with virtual desktop infrastructureExperience with multi-master file and database replication systemsExperience with storage arrays, HSM encryption devices, and storage array based replicationIndustry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The full pay range is $111,531 - $174,446 annually.
