Senior Unity Developer (People Manager)Location: RemotePlease note we are only accepting applications from within the UK due to being flexible to travel to work events/socials.Job Overview:Fusebox is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Unity Developer (People Manager) to play a key role in the evolution of our live-service, narrative games. You will be responsible for implementing core features and refining the user experience for our existing games, as well as supporting the launch of new games based on high-profile IPs.In this hybrid technical and leadership role, you will work closely with our design, art, and narrative teams to implement new gameplay features, integrate with backend services, and improve the code quality of a large existing codebase. Beyond the code, you will serve as a dedicated people manager. The ideal candidate will be an empathetic leader who can make recommendations on coding standards while actively managing, mentoring, and guiding the careers of their direct reports.Responsibilities:Directly line-manage a small team of developers, conducting regular 1-2-1s, performance reviews, and fostering a positive, inclusive team culture.Provide actionable career guidance, map out growth opportunities, and mentor team members to elevate their technical and professional skills.Transform ideas into games or features by collaborating with designers, artists, and fellow developers.Take ownership of complex development tasks and provide elegant solutions to challenging technical problems.Maintain, refactor, and improve existing Unity projects and architecture.Recommend and enforce best practices in coding, debugging, and optimization, and oversee their implementation across the team.Proactively communicate technical concerns, project bottlenecks, and potential challenges to stakeholders.Create and maintain detailed project documentation.Requirements:Proven track record of line-managing people, including conducting 1-2-1s, managing performance, and actively guiding career development.Strong, demonstrable experience using Unity with C# in a commercial environment.Solid experience developing for iOS and Android platforms.Able to efficiently test, profile, and debug complex code.Exceptional problem-solving skills, high emotional intelligence (EQ), and excellent communication and collaboration skills.Preferred:Deep knowledge of C# best practices, design patterns, and architectural standards.Live ops experience, ideally within mobile gaming.Experience with backend services, particularly Google Cloud / Firebase.Familiarity with mobile SDKs (Google Play, AppLovin, AppsFlyer, Analytics, etc.).Have shipped games or apps for iOS and Android platforms.Fluent in JavaScript or TypeScript.A passion for interactive fiction, storytelling, and creating engaging narratives.
