About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer with strong experience building and maintaining websites using Wagtail CMS, the open-source content management system built on Django. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web applications and content-driven platforms powered by Wagtail.

You will work closely with designers, product teams, and other developers to deliver robust, maintainable web solutions that provide flexible content management capabilities and strong performance. This role suits an experienced developer who is comfortable working across the full development lifecycle and contributing to architecture decisions in a Python/Django environment.

Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain web applications and content platforms using Wagtail CMS and Django
• Build custom Wagtail components, templates, and content structures to support dynamic website functionality
• Extend and customise Wagtail features to support complex content management requirements
• Develop and maintain Python-based backend services and integrations
• Work closely with designers and frontend developers to ensure seamless integration of UI/UX designs
• Optimise website performance, scalability, and security
• Integrate third-party services and APIs where required
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following modern development practices
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical architecture decisions
• Maintain documentation and support ongoing improvements to the platform
Requirements
• 5+ years of experience in Python development
• Strong experience working with the Django framework
• Proven experience building or maintaining websites using Wagtail CMS
• Strong understanding of content management system architecture
• Experience developing scalable web applications and RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and modern frontend integration
• Experience working with Git-based version control workflows
• Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Nice to Have
• Experience deploying and managing Django/Wagtail applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Familiarity with headless CMS architectures
• Experience with frontend frameworks such as React or Vue
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows
• Experience building high-traffic or content-heavy websites
• Familiarity with SEO-friendly content architectures and performance optimisation
