Senior Principal Control Systems Engineer
Job Description:
ā¢ Develop and implement maintenance and improvement measures for recycling equipment, including conveyors, shredders, optical sorters and material handling systems.
ā¢ Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
ā¢ Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing control systems and optimize the performance of control systems, ensuring efficient and reliable operations and improving operational outcomes.
ā¢ Lead cross-functional projects from concept through commissioning, including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
ā¢ Analyzes system performance and implements improvements to maximize uptime, throughput, and efficiency.
ā¢ Maintain detailed documentation for control systems, and ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulation, and industry standards in all control systems designs.
ā¢ Support commissioning new equipment, retrofits of existing systems, and analysis of acquired equipment.
ā¢ Champion a strong safety culture by incorporating industrial safety standards, including LO/TO, machine safeguarding, and electrical safety in all control and infrastructure projects.
ā¢ Good communicator with the ability to translate findings in a strategic and tactical manner through investment opportunities.
Requirements:
ā¢ Strong understanding of electrical schematics, instrumentation, and process control.
ā¢ Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting CAD drawings and engineering schematics (AutoCAD).
ā¢ Experience with SCADA Systems, Industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus) and data logging.
ā¢ Strong electrical, mechanical, and programming background.
ā¢ Experience with advanced control strategies, such as model predictive control (MPC) and advanced process control (APC).
ā¢ Bachelor's degree in Control Systems Automation, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field - preferred.
ā¢ 10 or more years of experience in industrial control systems, preferably in recycling or manufacturing environments.
