What youll be doing...
This position will be supporting a custom Verizon built secure high performance wide area network for a US Government program. This position will require the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance.
This position will be the Senior level network test engineer that will be responsible for leading the effort for implementing and performing network performance testing to meet customer SLAs for acceptance. This position will be required to develop and document test methodologies for meeting customer requirements. This position requires extensive knowledge of testing methodologies including RFC Y.1564 and RFC 6349 and has extensive experience with using various vendor testing platforms. The candidate must be experienced with using IPerf and creating testing scripts for aggregate synchronized testing of network elements. The position will also be responsible of creating and performing detailed test plans and develop test cases for various lab testing requirements.
Things you will be doing:
Gathering complex customer requirements.
Designing solutions.
Proving the solution viability by documenting user stories and test cases.
Building lab environments.
Running test cases.
Execution and development of Method of Procedure (MOP) and file creation, review and implementation.
Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation/drawings
Lead the engineers within the team to provide technical guidance and knowledge of the networks in various functional areas.
Develop requirements and guidelines for proactive capacity management on various platforms for performance monitoring, as well as capping guidelines for router platforms
Writing whitepapers and delivering presentations in response to customer requirements/interest in new technologies/products in support of customer networks.
What you will need to have:
Bachelors degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Extensive knowledge of network testing methods including RFC Y.1564, 2544, 1731, and 6349.
Experience with using testing tools including IPerf3 and scripting tests.
Experience with various LinuxOS platforms/applications
Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Government Clearance
Even better if you have:
Bachelor's of Science degree.
Certification(s): CCNA, CCNP, CCIE
Hardware: Cisco, Juniper
Software: IOS, IOS-XE, ASA
Test Application(s) experience: Spirent, Viavi, Anritsu, Visio, IXIA, IPerf, Nuttcp
Strong core networks - Internet and MPLS, WAN Optimization.
Architecture Skills.
Documentation skills: Visio, G-Suite, Jive, MS Office suite.
Advanced skills in the following: Data and IP Services (MPLS, VoIP, VPN), Managed Network Services (LAN, WAN, SDN), Managed Security Solutions, Data Center Confident in discussing technical requirements.
Strong Knowledge of IP Networking including Virtual Private Cloud, VPN, SDN, DNS, Load-balancing, and Firewalls.
Knowledge of Protocol Analysis, Packet Capture, Wireshark, NetScout, Fluke, T-Berd and other Fiber test tools.
Project management and process improvement experience.
Extensive Routing & Switching configuration experience with Cisco platforms
Extensive experience with the TCP/IP protocol suite aligning with OSI model
Protocol Knowledge - BGP, OSPFv2/v3, IS-IS, Segment Routing, QoS, MPLS, Ethernet,
Preferred hands on experience with IPv6 (Addressing, Subnetting, Troubleshooting)
Familiar with ITU standards related to network performance (Latency, throughput, Jitter, loss, etc.)
