Senior MEP Estimator - Commercial Construction (REMOTE)
About the Role (remote work available) We’re looking for an experienced Senior Estimator with strong MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) experience to join our team. Company HQ is in Oak Park, IL. In this role, you’ll lead the preparation of detailed, accurate cost estimates for a variety of commercial construction projects across the country. You’ll work closely with our preconstruction and project management teams to ensure every estimate supports client goals for cost, schedule, and quality. What You’ll Do • Prepare and review comprehensive cost estimates for commercial projects with a focus on MEP systems. • Analyze drawings, specifications, and scope documents to determine materials, labor, and schedule requirements. • Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to confirm scope and budget accuracy. • Perform quantity take-offs, value engineering, and cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities. • Evaluate subcontractor bids and ensure competitive, complete proposals. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing, labor rates, and material costs. • Support the preconstruction and project management teams during budgeting and proposal phases. • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior estimators as needed. What We’re Looking For • 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction. • Strong background in MEP estimating (mechanical, electrical, plumbing). • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, OST, Sage Estimating, Procore). • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Collaborative team player with strong problem-solving skills.
