Senior HR & Payroll Specialist, Tokyo

What You’ll DoOversee the accounting close, accounts payable (payment requests, bank payments, etc.), accounts receivable (processing of customer invoices and uncollected balances), Tax, and TreasuryPrepare payroll files for remittance to our external payroll providerAdminister employee paperwork both in-person and electronically, including benefits enrollment, employment letters, onboarding and offboarding paperwork, and other ad hoc requestsManage the organization's tax affairs, including and not limited to residence tax, year-end tax adjustment, statutory report for Income/withholding tax, in coordination with the external tax firm for specialist adviceManage legally required processes, including and not limited to stress check, labour insurance premiums, Labour-management agreement renewal, and the Government national pension office surveyConsults with external counsel on employment regulations in the regions that we support and administers contract updates periodicallyCoordinate with the company’s financial institutions on treasury-related mattersManage contracts with contractors and vendors, and assist with requisitions and invoicing in our purchase order systemVisa support for employees visiting from overseas officesManage time and attendance, and leave administration/trackingHybrid role, in our Tokyo office 2-3 times per weekThis role will report into the VP of Accounting that is based in the USWhat We Believe are Important Traits for This RoleStrong English and Japanese communication skills (verbal and written), both with the internal customers and external providersExperience with NetSuite and HRIS SoftwareSelf-driven and can thrive as the only Ops Specialist in the company with minimal supervisionExperience working in a startup or a US-headquartered company is a plusExperience in owning the Payroll processes, HR regulations, and policies is a plusNice to have but not required: Qualification of 第2種衛生管理者 (Class 2 Health Supervisor)What We ValueIn addition to our core values, which are not unique to this position and are necessary for Mapbox leaders:We value high-performing creative individuals who dig into problems and opportunities.We believe in individuals being their whole selves at work.
