We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Information Design team on a fully remote basis. Position Overview

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust ETL/ELT data pipelines that power our enterprise data infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Studios, Product Innovation, and Business Intelligence to gather data requirements, develop data validation scripts, and ensure data quality across multiple environments.

This role offers the unique opportunity to work with a diverse technology stack including SQL, Python, Docker, GitLab, Apache Airflow, Snowflake, Looker, PostgreSQL, and AWS services. You'll be instrumental in developing scalable data solutions that support critical business functions across our organization.

Key Responsibilities


Design and Execute ETL/ELT Data Pipelines: Architect and implement efficient, scalable data pipelines that move data between various sources and destinations while ensuring data integrity and optimal performance.
Database Architecture and Development: Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and indexes that support business requirements and enable efficient data retrieval.
Workflow Automation: Build and maintain batch processing workflows using Apache Airflow to automate repetitive data operations and ensure timely data availability.
Data Integration: Collaborate with Studios and Product Innovation teams to understand data requirements, develop integration strategies, and deliver data solutions that meet business needs.
Data Validation and Quality: Create and execute data validation scripts, perform data quality checks, and implement monitoring solutions to identify and resolve data issues proactively.
Cross-Environment Deployment: Manage deployments across development, QA/UAT, and production environments while maintaining proper change management practices.
Cloud Infrastructure Management: Work with AWS S3 and other cloud-based services to build and maintain data lakes and data warehouses.
Documentation and Best Practices: Lead the development and documentation of best practices for data engineering processes, coding standards, and architectural patterns.
Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data engineering practices.
Performance Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data pipelines and database queries to ensure optimal system performance.


Essential Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
Minimum 2+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role
2+ years of experience with SQL, including advanced query optimization and database design
2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
2+ years of experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
2+ years of experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases
2+ years of experience using GitLab/GitHub for version control and CI/CD
2+ years of experience with containerization using Docker
Strong proficiency in Python for data processing and automation
Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration
Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms
Strong understanding of relational and NoSQL database concepts


Preferred Qualifications


Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
Experience with streaming data technologies and real-time data processing
Experience in media, entertainment, or digital advertising industries
Knowledge of Looker or other business intelligence tools
Experience with Databricks for big data processing
Familiarity with PostgreSQL and other open-source database systems
Understanding of data modeling best practices (star schema, snowflake schema, etc.)
Experience with API development and integration

Programming Languages: Python (required), SQL (required), with bonus points for Scala, Java, or R
Cloud Platforms: AWS (S3, EC2, Lambda, Redshift), with familiarity in Azure or Google Cloud
Data Warehousing: Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery
Workflow Orchestration: Apache Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes
Version Control: GitLab, GitHub
Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases
Big Data Technologies: Apache Spark, Databricks, Hadoop ecosystem
BI Tools: Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
