POSITION SUMMARY

Gibson is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead the firm’s financial management consulting work, including financial management audits, accounts payable and receivable functional reviews, cost‑savings projects, and other financial operations engagements.

The successful candidate will operate autonomously from the outset, developing project approaches, conducting analyses, leading client conversations, and delivering high‑quality recommendations. The ideal candidate brings deep financial operations expertise, strong analytical skills, and a passion for improving education systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Financial Management Leadership
• Lead financial management performance audits, including evaluations of accounting practices, internal controls, business office operations, and compliance.
• Conduct functional reviews of accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, payroll interfaces, and related financial workflows.
• Identify cost‑savings and operational efficiency opportunities and develop actionable recommendations.

Analysis and Problem Solving
• Perform advanced financial and operational data analysis.
• Assess process efficiency and redesign workflows to reduce errors, cycle time, and cost.

Client Engagement
• Lead interviews with district leadership and staff including CFOs, business office directors, and departmental staff.
• Present findings clearly and professionally to senior leadership and governing boards.

Deliverables
• Produce clear, concise, and well-supported reports and presentations.
• Ensure deliverables meet firm standards and client expectations.

Project Management
• Manage project scopes, timelines, budgets, and client communications.
• Ensure independently led engagements stay on schedule and within budget.

Business Development and Knowledge Sharing
• Support proposal development by providing technical scopes of work, and budgets.
• Contribute to the improvement of internal tools, templates, and methodologies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA).
• Certified Public Accountant.
• Six to eight years of experience in management consulting or a combination of internal audit and consulting.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead financial reviews, audits, or business office improvement projects.
• Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
• High proficiency with the suite of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working with school districts or public‑sector financial operations.
• Experience working with a large accounting/consulting firm.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS, EXPECTATIONS, AND ASSURANCES

This exempt full-time position will require 40 hours of work per week, usually Monday through Friday. Flexible hours and work schedules will be considered after an individual establishes a track record of strong performance. This position requires that the incumbent sit or stand for extended periods of time while working on a computer. The ability to travel occasionally (15 to 20 percent) is required.

Candidates may work remotely from anywhere in the United States. All employment with Gibson is at-will. The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000 and is commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
