Senior Cloud Engineer – DoD Enterprise Cloud Operations (remote)

Job Family Software Development & Support (Digital) Travel Required Up to 10% Clearance Required Active Secret What You Will Do Provide advanced technical leadership for cloud computing support and administration within Department of Defense environments. Plan and lead cloud infrastructure management activities, including provisioning, optimization, and recovery of mission-critical systems. Coordinate updates for PaaS/SaaS offerings, decommission obsolete services, and assist in defining best practices and security standards. Serve as a technical authority in cloud operations and may supervise engineering teams to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and governance requirements. Key Responsibilities • Lead cloud environment management activities, including provisioning, maintenance, optimization, and disaster recovery. • Coordinate updates for approved PaaS/SaaS offerings and manage decommissioning of obsolete cloud services. • Assist in defining and implementing cloud service best practices and security standards aligned with DoD and NIST guidelines. • Evaluate cloud performance metrics and recommend major changes to improve reliability, scalability, and mission readiness. • Function as a technical expert in cloud administration and automation, guiding teams in secure and efficient operations. • Collaborate with stakeholders and senior leadership to align cloud strategies with DoD mission objectives. • Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity frameworks, RMF requirements, and governance policies throughout all cloud activities. What You Will Need • U.S. citizenship. • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD "Secret" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. • At least 9 years of relevant experience. • Extensive experience in cloud engineering and administration within DoD, federal or similar environments. • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, DoD-approved environments) and automation tools. • Expertise in cloud security, compliance, and performance optimization. • Familiarity with NIST standards, RMF processes, and DoD governance requirements. • Excellent leadership and communication skills for interfacing with technical teams and senior management. What Would Be Nice To Have • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate • Azure Solutions Architect Expert • Active "SECRET" or higher-level clearance preferred. The annual salary range for this position is $113,000.00-$188,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
