Job SummaryThe Senior Civil Structural Engineer will play a critical role in supporting new nuclear plant engineering projects. This position is responsible for structural design, analysis, and documentation of safety-related systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory codes and standards. Working in collaboration with global partners, suppliers, and regulatory authorities, this role contributes to the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of new plant projects.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and analyze nuclear power plant safety-related structures, including reinforced concrete, structural steel, and composite structures.Perform structural calculations and static/dynamic analyses in compliance with ASME B&PV Section III Division 2, AISC N690, and ACI 349 codes.Evaluate and resolve issues related to thermal stresses, hydrodynamic input loads, and containment structure design.Prepare engineering reports, drawings, specifications, licensing documentation, and system design deliverables.Lead and conduct design analyses, evaluations, and verifications for various BWR structural systems.Interface with internal teams, suppliers, partners, regulators, and external stakeholders on technical issues.Collaborate with quality personnel to review and approve processes, qualifications, and non-conforming material dispositions.Ensure timely delivery of engineering documentation and equipment packages that meet all contract and regulatory requirements.Minimum Education & Experience RequirementsBachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.Minimum 8 years of experience in the energy sector (nuclear preferred) or a related technical environment.At least 3 years of experience in nuclear power plant design and/or operations.Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical leadership or program management role.Experience collaborating with customers, suppliers, and regulators.Special RequirementsStrong understanding of industry codes and standards, including ASME, AISC, ACI, and applicable NRC guidelines.Ability to work in a regulated nuclear environment and meet compliance requirements.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExpertise in static and dynamic structural analysis, reinforced concrete, and structural steel design.Proficiency in requirements management tools, structural engineering software, and design documentation systems.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop technical reports and present findings.Effective problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.Ability to lead projects, coordinate teams, and work within cross-functional environments.Additional Desired CharacteristicsProfessional Engineer (PE) license.Master s or PhD in Civil Engineering.Experience with BWR plants, particularly BOP/TI/HVAC systems.Knowledge of ACI, ASCE, AWS standards and steel plate composite structures.Background in nuclear power plant construction.Proven ability to foster team collaboration and continuous process improvement.Work EnvironmentOffice-based with opportunities for hybrid or regional work, depending on project requirements.Some travel may be required to supplier sites, regulatory meetings, or project locations.Collaboration with global partners and regulators across multiple time zones.Employers have access to artificial intelligence language tools (“AI”) that help generate and enhance job descriptions and AI may have been used to create this description.
