PlanITROI leverages the circular economy to do social good by turning our clients returned, retired, or idle IT devices (laptops, PCs, smartphones, tablets, etc.) into re-certified, affordable technology solutions sold directly and through the largest retailers in the world!Senior Accountant- eCommerce & Inventory Control Overview: PlanITROI is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Accountant with a strong background in both traditional accounting and eCommerce operations. This role requires a proactive self-starter who can own day-to-day accounting functions while also managing the complexity of online sales transactions, inventory control, and financial reconciliation across multiple platforms.The ideal candidate will have proven experience month-end close process in accounting, preferably within an IT Services, ITAD, or manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of eCommerce platforms, high volume sales, sales tax compliance, and inventory systems. Youâll work closely with our Controller to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in all financial reporting and operational accounting processes.Mission of the Role: To support the Controller in managing and performing all daily accounting functionsâespecially those related to eCommerce and inventoryâwhile executing a complete and accurate month-end close process within 12 business days.This role is remote in the United States, EST only.Key Responsibilities will include:General Accounting & Month-End Close:
Own the full month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
Prepare and analyze financial results, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting
Ensure GAAP compliance and internal control standards are upheld
Manage EOY Financial and Bank Audit requests
eCommerce & Inventory Control Accounting:
Manage all general ledger activity for all eCommerce transactions (Amazon, eBay, Groupon, Target, Walmart, Staples, New Egg, etc.)
Reconcile eCommerce platform data with payment processors (PayPal, etc.) and accounting systems (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite).
Post customer payments by recording cash, credit card, PayPal, and wire transactions
Research and manage cash applications, billing issues, and customer charge-backs
Track and report Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and maintain accurate inventory valuation (FIFO, weighted average, etc.).
Collaborate cross-functionally to improve inventory control systems and processes
AR / AP / Cash Management:
Manage the process and record accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Post customer payments (credit card, PayPal, wire, ACH) and resolve billing issues or discrepancies
Coordinate with the sales team to manage collections and maintain up-to-date AR balances
Reconcile daily banking transactions, credit card accounts, T&E, petty cash, and prepaid accounts
Prepare wire transfers and maintain daily cash position reports
Operational & Compliance Support:
Maintain and enhance internal accounting controls and support audit readiness
Support year-end audits and prepare audit schedules as needed
Manage customer/vendor account setup, POs, sales orders, and invoicing in accounting systems. Provide ad hoc reports, assist with electronic filing, and handle miscellaneous general accounting tasks
Qualifications:
Bachelorâs degree in accounting (CPA preferred but not required)
5/7+ years of experience in senior accounting roles, with at least 3 years focused on eCommerce and inventory accounting
Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
Experience in bank audits is needed
Proficient in QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, and Excel
Experienced with eCommerce tools like Amazon Seller Central, eBay, Groupon, Walmart, etc.
Must have experience in eCommerce fees
Must have experience in Inventory Control and inventory software tools
Knowledge of sales tax compliance and state nexus rules
Must be experienced in processing AP/AR
Detail-oriented with excellent time management and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate across departments
Must thrive in a fast-paced organization
Experience in ITAD, IT services, or manufacturing industries is ideal
